Twitter & Facebook!

Did you know that the Beaumont Business Association has Twitter & Facebook accounts? And that business members in the BBA can send information to be included as announcements on those accounts?

Additionally, if you have a special event coming up, we want to hear about it! Make sure to send us an email with the information (we'll put it on the blog) & include us in your Twitter feed - we'll retweet items and send them to local outlets for publicity!

Blog, Twitter & Facebook... Social media that gets noticed, and another way that the BBA is at work for our neighborhood, letting friends, neighbors & fellow business owners know about the fabulous events going on in our neighborhood!

Fremont Fest Meeting Tuesday!

It's planning time! Tuesday night @ 5 pm (at Amalfi's), we will be holding another Fremont Fest Meeting. These meetings really help all of the committees come together and plan a great Festival for all of our neighbors and friends in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood, and surrounding area.

The poster is done, and plans are on track for several exciting events at the Festival, including the Kid's Bike & Pet parade, a Fremont Fest Run (5K for everyone, and a special 1 mile for kids), a homemade Salsa Challenge, a cake contest and cake walk, horse & carriage rides, bounce houses & crafts for the kids,  and live music throughout the day on different stages.

We have some wonderful vendors lined up, including some delicious food! If you would like to be a vendor, we are still taking applications - we want to give everyone plenty of time to join up! If you are interested in being a vendor at the Fremont Fest, or for more information, please contact emilyd13 {at} gmail {dot} com.

Featured Vendor at 2nd Friday!

Spotlight on Donna and John McLean, of Laughing Fridge Magnets, a couple of baby boomers who discovered how much fun it is to create!

Donna says "We started making silly magnets as gifts for family, and decided to see if others liked our crazy craft. We have very different styles of painting. John has a vivid imagination and isn't afraid of color. I think his style would be considered primitive or naive. I lean more towards "cuteness" and don't have any idea what my style is!

Our dog Hannah is the inspiration for our wonderful wiener magnets, and our old cat Indy is the model for our fat cats. We both design the shapes of the magnet, and John cuts them out using his scroll saw. Each magnet is made of birch plywood, painted with acrylics, sprayed with lacquer, and has a flat magnet attached. They are numbered, signed and dated on the back. We both paint, and offer each other constructive criticism, which is either listened to or not.

We have a great time creating our magnets together and hope they make you smile!"

Donna and John have been fixtures at our 2nd Fridays on Fremont, and always have great smiles for the passersby.

You can find them tomorrow on NE Fremont at the July 2nd Friday, and on their Etsy shop. Always posting cheerful magnets, you can follow them on Twitter @laughingfridge.

Fremont Fest: Saturday, August 7, 2010

Open call for vendors!

If you would like to be a vendor at the Beaumont-Wilshire Neighborhood Fremont Fest, please contact me at emilyd13 {at} gmail {dot} com!

Tons of foot traffic, great location, fantastic people to work with! We have a LOT of fun together at the 2nd Fridays, and Fremont Fest is like the hugest 2nd Friday ever. Except not a Friday at all, cause it's on Saturday, August 7th.

But you get the point. There are tons of families and people in our neighborhood who look forward to this event each year, and each year, we do our best to provide the best experience possible for our neighbors and visitors!

If you make crafty stuff, soaps, jewelry, clothing, lotions, dog collars, shoes, fresh jam, bread, etc., then let us know!

As Christine from GreenDog Pet Supply says, Fremont Fest "is a super fun day of celebration in Beaumont Village. If you haven't been to a Fremont Fest before, you should really try to come down. There will be lots of live music along the street, artists and craftspeople, sidewalk sales, face painting, horse and carriage rides, and of course the parade!!! The fest kicks off at 10 a.m. with a really cute neighborhood parade: about 100 kids turn out on their decorated bicycles, the music will be playing, usually some classic cars and the Fire Truck join us, and of course there's the Pet Parade!!  Costumes are optional, but if you wear one you'll be eligible for a best costume prize! (Feel free to decorate their leashes or yourselves instead of your dogs if you like or just come as you are) Other prizes will also be awarded for best trick, most enthusiastic marcher, etc! We'll be gathering between 9:30 and 10 am at the Beaumont Middle School, and the parade starts promptly at 10."

There will be a pub crawl, salsa challenge, cake walk, and all sorts of other fun to get into!

We'd love to have you!
